How it works
A MotorVerify report brings together the records we can lawfully reach for one car, and says plainly what we could not check.
Four steps
Enter the VIN or chassis number
Japanese frame numbers work too. We confirm make, model and year with you.
Where do I find it?See what we can check
Before you pay, we list the checks available for this car and any gaps.
Typical coverageRead your report
Most reports are ready in minutes. Records that need a person take up to a day.

Five results, never a hidden gap
Each check in your report ends in one of these results. A check we could not run is never shown as clean.
- Record found
- A source returned a record for this vehicle.
- No matching record
- The sources we checked hold no matching record. That does not prove nothing happened.
- Source unavailable
- We could not reach the source, so this check is not clean.
- Check not offered
- We do not offer this check for this vehicle or country yet.
- Review required
- A person must look at the evidence before this check is settled.
Where each finding comes from
Every finding in a report says which kind of source it came from:
From a source
A record a licensed provider returned.
MotorVerify interpretation
What we read from the records, such as a mileage drop after converting miles to km.
Supplied by you
Documents you uploaded, marked as such.
What a report cannot tell you
A report is not an inspection. It does not guarantee that a car is roadworthy, who owns it, or that its history is complete. Have the car inspected by a mechanic and check the logbook with the seller.
