Where to find the VIN or chassis number
The VIN is a 17-character code. Japanese imports often have a shorter frame number instead, such as NZE161-0004217. Either works.
- On the logbook, under chassis or frame number.
- On a plate at the bottom of the windscreen, on the driver's side.
- On a sticker inside the driver's door frame.
- Stamped on the chassis, often under the bonnet.
Questions and answers
Where does the information come from?
Licensed history providers in the UK and Japan, Kenyan sources where we have lawful access, partner garages, and documents you upload. Each finding says which kind of source it came from.
What if you find nothing?
If we find no history for the car, you get a full refund. A check that could not run is never shown as clean.
How long does a report take?
Most reports are ready in minutes. If a record needs a person to look at it, we tell you when to expect it, usually within a day.
My M-PESA payment went through but I have no report. What now?
Keep your M-PESA message. We match payments automatically, and your order page shows when we have it. If it does not appear within an hour, contact us with the order reference.
Something in my report looks wrong. Can it be corrected?
Yes. Ask for a correction from the report. A reviewer checks the evidence, and if we change the report you get a new version; the old one is marked as superseded.
How can someone check my report is genuine?
Every report has an ID. Anyone can enter it on our verification page to confirm the version and date, without seeing the full report.
